Babysitting Fundraiser on Sunday

Due to the weather and other factors, we didn't raise much money the first week, so let's hope for better results this week-here are the details:

Sunday, 12/23/07, we will be providing babysitting services for children ages 3-10 at the Hackley School from 1:30-6. Volunteer players and parents should be there at 1 and expect to stay to 6:30. Even if you can only be there for part of the time, please show up and help.

Please circulate the flyers and tell your friends. This can be fun, and will begin to put fundraising dollars into our account. Contact Coach Ginger if you have further questions.

Indoor Practice Update

We will be having indoor practices on Saturday afternoons from 3-4 pm at the OnTrack indoor facility near the Tarrytown train station. The field is artificial turf, but you cannot wear cleats--indoor shoes only.

We start next Saturday, December 8, and have 8 sessions scheduled. There will be a charge for this, which will depend on how many players participate--I hope that most of you can make most of the sessions...As an initial matter, please let me know asap whether you have conflicts so we can get a sense of how many players will participate, and therefore what the cost will be. I expect it to be less than $20/player per session, probably closer to $10-15.

Since we are paying for this slot, and we only have an hour, please arrive early enough to be in appropriate gear (including shinguards) and warmed up before 3 so we can maximize our use of the time. If possible, I may keep you a little late the first week to have a discussion about the trip and to answer any questions that you may have.

Our Tuesday evening practices (7-8:30) will also continue at the Pocantico gym. We had a pretty good turnout--8 players and 2 coaches, with three sick players, one injured player and a basketball player and dancer missing. Feel free to try to figure out who is who.

Parent Meeting Report

At Saturday's parent meeting, we had a pretty good turnout. We even got our first deposit--congratulations, Geena!! We discussed the current state of the travel plans, training plans and fundraising issues.

The first fundraising event that is scheduled is the first annual Region 220 Soccerthon on January 26, 2008 at the On Track indoor soccer facility in Tarrytown (near the train station). Details will follow, but we have the facility from 9pm to 6am (really). It will be like a walkathon, where you will get pledges for playing per hour. Plus we will have raffles and other things going on. It will be a mandatory team event, so mark your calendars now.

Other than Geena, we have heard from 11 girls that they want to go--Hannah, Kayla, Layla, Susie, Megan, Sarah, Aimee, Zoe, Ruri, Charlotte and Kelly. But we still have a few spots, so if you are interested, contact me, or Kate Wall as soon as possible. Or better yet--send Kate a $100 deposit--PER PLAYER AND ANY OTHER PERSON WHO WILL BE TRAVELING WITH THE TEAM--payable to AYSO Tarrytown at:

Kate Wall
88 Leroy Avenue
Tarrytown, NY 10591

Your deposit will lock in a POTENTIAL spot on the team. We can take 18 players. If more than 18 players want to go, the coaches will decide who will be on the roster. But if you don't give us a deposit, and register with AYSO (if you aren't already registered), we can't put you on the roster.

Important Parent Meeting

There will be a meeting for parents only on Saturday, November 3rd at 2:00 in the Tarrytown Senior Center. Please join the coaches and other parents to talk about plans for the trip to Hawaii.

A visit to the AYSO National Games website will give you an idea about how exciting this trip promises to be but it will take some work to get the team there! We will need everyone to pitch in to help, especially with fundraising...but more about that at the meeting.

Please come with questions, suggestions etc. We'll see everyone on the 3rd.

Trying to Schedule Games

I am trying to schedule a game on Saturday, October 27 against the U14 Girls club team coached by Agustin de Frutos (Clara's dad). I've also been in contact with an Ossining U16G AYSO team that has been playing as a club team, and I think we will get a game with them, too.

Also, I am trying to see if there is interest for an indoor tournament in Rockland County on January 13.

First Post-First Meeting

Last night we had the first meeting of representatives of the teams that have been invited to the National Games. We discussed the cost, estimated at $2,000 per person, travel logistics and fundraising ideas. The current thinking is to try to leave for Hawaii on Friday, July 4, 2008 and return on Monday, July 14, 2008. Team coordinator Kate Wall will be contacting all of the parents to set up a meeting so that we can firm up the roster and begin to raise money and make travel and other plans.
